Technical Feature Highlights

• 48-Volt Mild Hybrid Technology: The engines found in the CLE 300 4MATIC and CLE 450 4MATIC are supplemented with a powerful and efficient Integrated-Starter Generator. This integrated electric motor system assists the combustion engine by adding up to 23 hp for short periods of time. It also assists when accelerating, making driving without the combustion engine turned on possible ("gliding") and supplies the battery with power by means of high-efficiency recuperation. By doing so, it makes fuel savings possible that were previously the exclusive domain of high-voltage hybrid technology.
• Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX): A revolutionary multimedia system featuring innovative technology based on Artificial Intelligence and an intuitive operating system. MBUX is pioneering a new level of in-car experience. The system can be operated by a new generation of Voice Control, the center touchscreen, a new Touchpad, and/or by the Touch Control Buttons on the steering wheel. The system has learning capabilities and intelligent Voice Control with Natural Language Understanding and a verbal cue of "Hey Mercedes."
• Augmented Video for Navigation (optional), when the navigation function is active, a video image of the surroundings is enhanced with arrows or house numbers automatically superimposed directly onto the image in the media display.
• Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC (standard) makes it possible to enter and leave parallel and end-on parking spaces or garages automatically.
• Driver Assistance Systems (optional): The CLE receives the latest in driver assistance technology including intelligent hands-off detection. The available Driver Assistance Package includes:
• Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC® is an adaptive cruise control system that is able to automatically adjust your set speed for traffic ahead
• with Route-Based Speed Adaptation, the vehicle is able to reduce the speed in anticipatory mode by referencing map data ahead of curves, junctions, roundabouts, toll booths and exit roads.
• and Live Traffic and End-of-Traffic-Jam Assist, the vehicle can recognize and respond to traffic jams and slow-moving traffic even before the driver becomes aware of them. Once traffic is detected, the speed is reduced to approx. 60 mph as a precaution unless the driver decides otherwise.
• and intersection approach function, can provide additional safety when approaching intersections with cross traffic. The system uses intuitive arrows on the instrument display to indicate from which direction cross traffic is approaching. If the driver nevertheless tries to pull away, an audio-visual collision warning is triggered. The vehicle is prevented from moving off by automatically applying the brakes. The driver can cancel this at any time by fully depressing the accelerator pedal.
• Active Stop-and-Go Assist, is able to keep the vehicle within the lane and maintain a safe distance with a high level of availability at speeds up to 35 mph. With the extended restart function, the vehicle can restart automatically up to one minute after coming to a stop.
• Active Steering Assist generates steering torque which helps the driver to stay in the center of the lane on straight roads and slight bends, taking its guidance from vehicles ahead and lane markings
• with Active Emergency Stop Assist, which brakes the vehicle to a stop in a controlled manner when the system recognizes that the driver is distracted for a longer period or cannot intervene in vehicle control
• and Active Lane Change Assist, which assists the driver in a convenient and cooperative manner when making lane changes.
• and Evasive Steering Assist can support the driver to avoid a road user detected by the system in a dangerous situation. In addition to standing and crossing pedestrians, the CLE Coupe can also consider people and vehicles in the longitudinal direction as well as cyclists. The speed range goes up to 68 mph.
• Active Brake Assist with Cross-Traffic Function is able to help the driver avoid impending collisions with vehicles ahead or when turning off across the oncoming lane, the system will also assist with stationary or crossing vehicles and pedestrians, if the driver fails to take action quickly enough.
• Active Speed Limit Assist with Traffic Sign Assist utilizes map data and information from Traffic Sign Assist to automatically adapt the vehicle's speed.
• Active Blind Spot Assist is able to provide the driver with a visual alert, plus an audible alarm when a turn indicator is activated, to warn the driver if another vehicle is detected in the blind spot area. It can also help avoid a collision by single-sided braking if a lane change is still attempted with an obstacle in the blind spot.
• with Exit Warning offers enhanced protection when getting out of the car, a visual warning for passengers displayed in the exterior mirror if a car or bicycle is driving past the vehicle. If the driver tries to open the door, an additional audible warning sound and ambient door lighting will start to flash red.
• Active Lane Keeping Assist is able to warn the driver by means of vibrations of the steering wheel when the vehicle is unintentionally drifting out of its lane. If the vehicle passes over a solid line, or a dashed line when opposing traffic is detected, this system can pull the vehicle back into its lane by applying the brakes on one side.
• PRE-SAFE® PLUS with PRE-SAFE® Sound activates the PRE-SAFE safety measures when a collision from behind is imminent as well as applying the brakes when the vehicle is at a standstill in order to prevent subsequent accidents. PRE-SAFE® Sound omits a short interference signal if an imminent collision is detected, triggering a protective reflex in the human ear referred to as the "stapedius reflex," which can help reduce hearing loss in the event of an accident.
• Routines: Mercedes-Benz works to automate comfort functions based on personal needs. With routines the customer can use templates or self-created routines:
• Templates: With the help of these templates, customers can experiment with the different types of support that are possible with the help of routines. Examples here include "Cold days" (switching on the seat heating at a certain outside temperature, ambient lighting changes to warm orange) or "Date night" (romantic music is played via Bluetooth audio, the ambient lighting turns rose-colored). The templates are mostly stored in the backend. Some are stored locally in the vehicle, so they can be used even if there happens to be no connectivity. The templates are operated via the vehicle's central display and are arranged in carousel-style on the screen.
• Self-created routines: Conditions can be attached to actions on the central display. For example, "If the interior temperature is below 53 degrees Fahrenheit, switch on the seat heating and set the ambient lighting to warm orange." The driver can also assign a name for self-created routines, such as "Warm me up." Under this personally chosen name, the routine then appears on the screen under the menu item "My routines." It is also activated once so the vehicle can start it automatically. This routine category can be recognized by the blue tab in the menu bar. Routines can be created and edited in the vehicle, on the central display.
• Dashcam (optional): Using the camera in the windshield, the dashcam films and saves what's happening on the road in front of your vehicle, including the time and speed, helping to document a sequence of events and protect drivers in the event of an accident. The dashcam's resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and a frame rate of 30 Hz also allows for the driver to use the dashcam as a recording device to film landscapes and routes for video documentation.
• GUARD 360 with Picture Taking Function (optional): In addition to the features included with the standard Parking Damage Detection, Guard 360 visualizes the surroundings of the parked vehicle, for example if a collision has been detected. All the cameras of the 360° camera system are triggered. The resulting images are time-stamped. These images can be viewed in the central display as well as in the Mercedes me App and can then be used for further analysis purposes.
• DIGITAL LIGHT (optional): HD system with projection module (more than 1 million pixels per headlamp), which uses data from the camera, sensors and the navigation system to calculate the brightness value for each individual pixel in near real time
