At a glance: The next-generation eSprinter based on the Mercedes-Benz Electric Versatility Platform

  • Added value for the customer with increased options: rear-wheel drive, two wheelbases, three battery sizes and higher maximum payloads allowing for almost every conceivable body variant possible
  • New modular electric platform increases variability and flexibility of the next-generation eSprinter while also reducing complexity and costs in production
  • Next-generation eSprinter will make a significant contribution to local emission-free transportation of the future

Mercedes-Benz Electric Versatility Platform
The core elements of the new concept are three modules that allow freedom in the development and design of different body types:

Front module for the high-voltage components
The uniformly designed front-end assembly comprises all high-voltage components, including such things as the charging components and the DC/DC converter. The module can therefore be combined modification-free with all vehicle variants, independent of their wheelbase, battery size and body.

Module in the underbody for the high-voltage battery
The second component is the HV battery integrated in the vehicle underbody. In future, there will be a choice of three different battery capacities available. This allows customers to choose range and payload configurations to suit their respective field of application. Thanks to the different battery packages, the next-generation eSprinter will come up to individual customer wishes as concerns specific TCO requirements for everything from inner-city transport tasks to intercity routes.

Rear module with electrically driven rear axle
The third pillar of the modular construction is the electrically driven rear axle which will be used in line with the principle of parts commonization among all large van models equipped with an electric drive. The compact and powerful electric motor is integrated into the rear module and is designed in such a way that all model variants – from panel vans and people movers to chassis-cab variants for box bodies – can be seamlessly implemented using a single platform.
