Innovation and Design Shine at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week

Lincoln Center Fashion Shows Begin on Grand Scale

As doors open today to the new home of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center it's clear that innovation and design play a key role in creating a space that revolutionizes the way fashion shows are experienced.

With a 30 percent larger venue then previous seasons in Bryant Park and just under 90 runway shows taking place from September 9-16, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is fulfilling its mission to "organize, centralize and modernize" the American collections from designers showing this season including Diane von Furstenberg, Tommy Hilfiger, Hervé Léger by Max Azria, Narciso Rodriguez, Vera Wang, and this season's Mercedes-Benz Presents Designer, Carolina Herrera, who features her latest collection on September 13, 2010.

"The new space is incredible and is the result of many people providing their support and hard work to make it a reality," said Lisa Holladay, manager of brand experience marketing for Mercedes-Benz USA. "We are very proud to be the title sponsor and look forward to many more seasons that are successful in benefiting the entire fashion industry."

Beyond the cutting-edge technology upgrades that include electronic event credentialing and seating systems, the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week venue includes a sleek, modernized layout that aims to enhance attendees' experience. New vehicle displays include a 2011 E550 Cabriolet with designo Mauritius Blue paint and porcelain interior, the featured vehicle in this season's key visual with Mercedes-Benz Brand Ambassador Milla Jovovich, and the 2011 CL63 AMG in Magnetized Black Edition.

Mercedes-Benz Presents Designer Carolina Herrera showcases her latest collection on September 13th at 10:00am. Recognized throughout the industry for her impeccable style and elegant, feminine, sophisticated designs, Carolina Herrera has been the recipient of two distinct Council of Fashion Designers of America honors including "Womenswear Designer of the Year" in 2004 and the "Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award" in 2008.

The Mercedes-Benz Star Lounge takes on a bold design through a collaborative effort with fashion icon Iman and her new IMAN Home designs, and interiors and special events design consultant Carlos Mota. Those lucky enough to gain access to the lounge are transported to a tribal oasis equipped with cozy couches, chairs, daybeds, full bar and private sitting area.
