Sporty C-Class Coupe continues to offer impressive performance and style
Athletic and sporty, the vivid, sensual design of the C-Class Coupe cuts a fine figure on the road and embodies modern luxury. At the same time, its interior raises elegance and style to a sporty level. Lightweight construction to reduce weight, excellent aerodynamics, and a dynamically configured chassis, with optional air suspension, form the basis for a high level of suspension comfort, low road noise and tire vibration, agile handling, and driving pleasure. Driver assistance systems provide safety of the very highest caliber. With its high-class appeal and generous interior, the C- Class Coupe sets new standards in its segment.
As the sportiest variant of the C-Class, the Coupe displays its driving enjoyment- oriented character in an emotional and at the same time formally distinct design. A sportily striking front section featuring diamond radiator grille and long hood – the new generation Coupe is 2.4 inches (60 mm) longer than its predecessor. A high beltline and frameless doors with free-standing exterior mirrors underscore the sporty character. In contrast to the C-Class Sedan, the dropping line extends further past the rear wheel arch. To underscore the Coupe's sporty disposition, the suspension is 0.6 inches (15 mm) lower than that of the Sedan, making it a very sporty proposition when combined with the standard 18-inch wheels.
New for 2018
For 2018, a 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission replaces the 7-speed automatic on the C300 and C300 4MATIC Coupe. The C-Class Coupe is also now standard equipped with a rearview camera, Blind Spot Assist, extendable sun visors and KEYLESS-GO and 18" 5-spoke split wheels. The Smartphone Integration package and heated steering wheel are optionally available, as well as a new exterior paint: designo Selenite Grey Magno.
The Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupe
Mercedes-AMG has added another model to its C-Class family: the C43 Coupe. For a dynamic driving experience, the Affalterbach-based development teams have put together a scintillating engineering package: the 362 hp AMG-enhanced 3.0L V6 biturbo engine is combined with an AMG-Enhanced 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission that provides rapid gearshifts. Together with the AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive and the model-specific chassis technology, this provides the optimum basis for high agility and exhilarating lateral dynamics. Thus the C43 Coupe also fulfills the brand promise of 'Driving Performance' in every respect.
The Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe
Mercedes-AMG is setting another milestone in the brand's history: the AMG C63 Coupe is the next step on the way to more technical and visual distinctiveness. The far-reaching technical modifications are evident at first sight: strikingly flared front and rear wheel arches, an increased track width and larger wheels give the C63 Coupe a muscular look while also providing a basis for highly agile longitudinal and lateral dynamics.
The brand's typical "Driving Performance" is also taken to new heights with the C63 Coupe. The AMG 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine, with 469 hp in standard trim or 503 hp in the C63 S, is a completely in-house development from Affalterbach. In addition, the sophisticated AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension with electronically controlled shock absorbers, the set-up of the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT transmission modes, the rear-axle limited-slip differential and the dynamic engine mounts have all been developed by AMG.
Suspension – sportily agile and comfortable
The suspension offers a high level of comfort with low road noise and tire vibration while ensuring agile driving dynamics – the basis for driving enjoyment.
A 4-link front axle with wheel suspension decoupled from the spring strut plays a part in the agile handling characteristics. This enables sporty axle kinematics for plenty of grip and high lateral stability. As a result, the suspension responds more sensitively to steering movements and allows a sporty, agile driving style. Multi-link independent rear suspension with 5 links ensures excellent wheel location qualities and supreme straight- line stability. A steel sport-tuned suspension with tauter springs and damping is standard, lowering the Coupe by 0.6 inches (15 mm) compared to the Sedan.
Air suspension
The C-Coupe comes with the option of AIRMATIC air suspension on the front and rear axle. Its electronically controlled, continuously adjustable damping on the front and rear axle ensures outstanding road noise and tire vibration characteristics in every situation and gives the driver the option of selecting the desired driving style: sporty, comfortable or consumption-optimized. To this end, the driver can select one of five driving modes using the DYNAMIC SELECT Switch: "ECO", "Comfort", "Sport", "Sport +" and "Individual." AIRMATIC also features all-round self-levelling for excellent ride comfort even with the vehicle loaded.
Driver assistance systems to reduce stress
There are several safety and assistance systems based on the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive concept to choose from. ATTENTION ASSIST with adjustable sensitivity, which can warn the driver of inattentiveness and drowsiness, is included as standard. Further standard equipment includes COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS, which features an acoustic warning for the driver at speeds above 4 mph and Adaptive Brake Assist to help avoid collisions by boosting the braking effect in line with the current situation.
Driver assistance systems with substantially enhanced functions are optionally available, combining data from various sensor technologies such as radar sensors and a stereo camera as part of the Intelligent Drive concept to enhance comfort and safety, including DISTRONIC PLUS with Steering Assist, BAS PLUS Brake Assist System, Enhanced Active Lane Keeping Assist and PRE-SAFE PLUS®. Additional optional assistance systems include Active Parking Assist and a 360° camera which shows the vehicle from a virtual bird's-eye view.
