Mercedes-Benz Highlights at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show (LAAS)
Mercedes-Benz is pleased to announce the world and/or U.S. premiere of nine new vehicles at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show:
Mercedes-Maybach S650 Cabriolet – World Premiere
The world premiere of this luxurious dream car will demonstrate why it has come to embody the ultimate in open-air exclusivity, offering customers a 12-cylinder model in exclusive quantities (worldwide just 300 examples of this open-top four-seater model will be produced). Available in US dealers in spring, 2017.
Mercedes-AMG E63 Sedan – Auto Show Premiere No Embargo
Mercedes-AMG is redefining the performance sedan. Delivering superior acceleration, the 4.0L V8 biturbo engine generates up to 603 hp, making this the most powerful engine to have ever been installed in an E-Class. With zero to 60 mph acceleration of just 3.3 seconds in the E63 S, the new sedan is at the top of its class. Another highlight is the completely new AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system which combines the advantages of various drive configurations. Torque distribution on the front and rear axles, which until now was strongly rear-biased, is fully variable for the first time allowing for the implementation of drift mode. This ensures optimum traction right up to the physical limit, no matter the road conditions. The expressive exterior design, featuring a new radiator grille and coupe-style inset hood, underlines the performance figures. The next generation of the E63 thus offers a completely new level of sportiness and comfort. Available in US dealers by summer, 2017.
Mercedes-AMG GT 3 – IMSA Series GTD Race Car World Premiere No embargo
Mercedes-AMG will compete in North America's premier endurance racing series for the first time. The Mercedes-AMG Customer Sports Program will enter the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) WeatherTech
SportsCar Championship with several top teams. For the upcoming 2017 IMSA season, Mercedes-AMG is partnering with the successful Riley Motorsports team, which will campaign two Mercedes- AMG GT3 race cars. One of the team's cars will run as "AMG-Team Riley Motorsports," and one car will run as WeatherTech Racing, with sponsorship from the series' title sponsor. The AMG Customer Sports team SunEnergy1 Racing will also campaign an AMG GT3 in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Race Debut: January, 2017
Mercedes-AMG GT R – U.S. Auto Show Premiere No embargo
From the world's most demanding racetrack directly onto the road: Never before has Mercedes-AMG packed so much motorsport technology into a production vehicle than into the new Mercedes-AMG GT R. The front-mid- engine concept with a transaxle, handcrafted AMG 4.0L V8 biturbo engine rated at 577 hp, extensively modified suspension, new aerodynamics and intelligent lightweight construction laid the foundation for an especially dynamic driving experience. Available in US dealers by summer, 2017.
Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster – Auto Show Premiere No embargo
Alongside the AMG GT Roadster, the AMG GT C Roadster enhances the portfolio with a completely new model variant. With an output of 550 hp and peak torque of 502 lb-ft, the AMG GT C is the most powerful new Roadster variant and uses some of the technical refinements of the AMG GT R. These include active rear axle steering and the electronically controlled rear axle locking differential. In combination with AMG RIDE CONTROL sport suspension, the AMG GT C Roadster guarantees dynamic performance at the very highest level. Available in US dealers by fall, 2017.
Mercedes-Benz E400 Wagon – US Auto Show Premiere No embargo
Innovative engineering and a compelling conception of space make the all- new E-Class Wagon the most intelligent wagon that Mercedes-Benz has ever built. For the market launch in the U.S., the new E400 4MATIC Wagon will be available with a V6 biturbo engine that generates 329 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. The E400 4MATIC Wagon is equipped as standard with the new 9G- TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission. Available in US dealers by spring, 2017 with a starting price of $62,300 + destination & delivery.
Mercedes-Benz G550 4x42 – US Auto Show Premiere No embargo
The 4x42 is the most capable G-Class ever, boasting innovative portal axles, three locking differentials, a ground clearance of more than 17" and a 4.0L V8 biturbo engine. Available in US dealerships by early 2017 with a starting price of $225,000 + destination & delivery.
Mercedes-AMG GLE43 SUV – US Auto Show Premiere No embargo
Replacing the GLE400 by early 2017 as a more performance-oriented variant, the 2017 GLE43 SUV is a companion model to the GLE43 Coupe. The GLE43 SUV features a 362 hp AMG-enhanced 3.0L V6 biturbo powertrain in a roomy five- passenger SUV package. Available in US dealers by spring, 2017.
smart electric drive – US Auto Show Premiere No embargo
The new smart electric drive makes opting into electric mobility more attractive than ever, combining overall agility with emission-free driving as an ideal combination for urban mobility. With this next generation, smart will be the only car manufacturer worldwide to offer its entire model range with both combustion engines and pure battery-electric drive. Available in US dealers by spring, 2017.
