GLC Technical Feature Highlights

• 48-volt on-board electrical system technology (standard): The engines found in the GLC 300 and GLC 300 4MATIC are supplemented with a powerful and efficient Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). This integrated electric motor system assists the combustion engine by adding up to 23 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque for short periods of time. The ISG also assists when accelerating, making driving without the combustion engine turned on possible ("sailing"), and supplies the battery with power by means of high-efficiency recuperation. By doing so, it makes fuel savings possible that were previously the exclusive domain of high-voltage hybrid technology.
• Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX; standard): A revolutionary multimedia system featuring innovative technology based on Artificial Intelligence and an intuitive operating system, MBUX is pioneering a new level of in-car experience. The system can be operated by a new generation of Voice Control, the center touchscreen, and/or by the Touch Control Buttons on the steering wheel. The system has learning capabilities and intelligent Voice Control with Natural Language Understanding and activates upon a verbal cue of “Hey Mercedes."
• Augmented Video for Navigation (optional): When the navigation function is active, a video image of the surroundings is enhanced with arrows or house numbers automatically superimposed directly onto the image in the media display.
• Transparent Hood: The GLC 300 4MATIC offers a "transparent hood": when the off-road mode is active, the central display shows a virtual view under the front of the vehicle, including the front wheels and their steering position. The view is composed of the images from the 360-degree camera. There are two views: under the vehicle and looking ahead. At speeds up to 5 mph the "transparent hood", i.e. the view under the vehicle, is shown. From 5 to 12 mph the system shows the view ahead. The camera image is switched off at higher speeds.
• Driver Assistance Systems (optional): The GLC is available with the latest driver assistance technology including intelligent hands-off detection. The Driver Assistance Package includes:
• Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC is an adaptive cruise control system that is able to automatically adjust your set speed for traffic ahead. Available as a standalone option for the first time with the GLC SUV.
• with Route-Based Speed Adaptation: with the Driver Assistance Package, the vehicle is able to reduce the speed in anticipatory mode by referencing map data ahead of curves, junctions, roundabouts, toll booths and exit roads.
• Active Stop-and-Go Assist is able to keep the vehicle within the lane and maintain a safe distance with a high level of availability at speeds up to 37 mph. With the extended restart function, the vehicle can restart automatically up to one minute after coming to a stop.
• Active Steering Assist generates steering torque which helps the driver to stay in the center of the lane on straight roads and slight bends, taking its guidance from vehicles ahead and lane markings. The performance of Active Steering Assist has been enhanced to the same level as the S-Class.
• with Active Emergency Stop Assist: brakes the vehicle to a stop in a controlled manner when the system recognizes that the driver is distracted for a longer period or cannot intervene.
• and Active Lane Change Assist: assists the driver in a convenient and cooperative manner when making lane changes.
• Active Brake Assist with Cross-Traffic Function is able to help the driver avoid impending collisions with vehicles ahead, or when turning across the oncoming lane, the system will also assist with stationary or crossing vehicles and pedestrians, if the driver fails to take action quickly enough.
• Turn-off function of Active Brake Assist: activation of Active Brake Assist with Cross-Traffic Assist when turning across the opposite lane. If there is a risk of collision when turning across the path of oncoming vehicles, the vehicle will be braked when traveling at low speeds.
• Active Speed Limit Assist with Traffic Sign Assist utilizes map data and information from Traffic Sign Assist to automatically adapt the vehicle's speed.
• Active Blind Spot Assist is able to provide the driver with a visual alert, plus an audible alarm when a turn indicator is activated, to warn the driver if another vehicle is detected in the blind spot area. It can also help avoid a collision by single-sided braking if a lane change is still attempted with an obstacle in the blind spot.
• with Exit Warning: offers enhanced protection when getting out of the car, a visual warning for passengers displayed in the exterior mirror if a car or bicycle is driving past the vehicle. If the driver tries to open the door, an additional audible warning sound and ambient door lighting will start to flash red.
• Active Lane Keeping Assist is able to warn the driver by means of vibrations of the steering wheel when the vehicle is unintentionally drifting out of its lane. If the vehicle passes over a solid line, or a dashed line when opposing traffic is detected, this system can pull the vehicle back into its lane by applying the brakes on one side.
• Car-to-X Communication is a system in which the vehicle simultaneously acts as a receiver and transmitter, conveying warning messages and evaluating driving conditions, effectively allowing the driver to “see" much further down the road.
• PARKTRONIC with Active Parking Assist and 360° camera system make it possible to enter and leave parallel and end-on parking spaces automatically.
• PRE-SAFE® PLUS with PRE-SAFE® Sound activates the PRE-SAFE® safety measures when a collision from behind is imminent as well as applying the brakes when the vehicle is at a standstill in order to prevent subsequent accidents. PRE-SAFE® Sound emits a short interference signal if an imminent collision is detected, triggering a protective reflex in the human ear referred to as the “stapedius reflex," which can help reduce hearing loss in the event of an accident.
• Dashcam (optional with Pinnacle Trim): Using the camera in the windshield, the dashcam films and saves what’s happening on the road in front of your vehicle, including the time and speed, helping to document a sequence of events and protect drivers in the event of an accident. The dashcam’s resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and a frame rate of 30 Hz also allows for the driver to use the dashcam as a recording device to film landscapes and routes for video documentation.
• GUARD 360 (available with Exclusive and Pinnacle Trim): In addition to the features included with the standard Parking Damage Detection, Guard 360 visualizes the surroundings of the parked vehicle, for example if a collision has been detected. All the cameras of the 360° camera system are triggered. The resulting images are time-stamped. These images can be viewed in the central display as well as in the Mercedes me App and can then be used for further analysis purposes.
• DIGITAL Light: HD system with projection module (more than 1 million pixels per headlamp), which uses data from the camera, sensors and the navigation system to calculate the brightness value for each individual pixel in near real time
